Thank you Dawn for introducing me to the great world of Sake. Many of us that study wine have minimal knowledge of this great treat, however tasting great Sake is so similar to tasting great wines. With Dawn's introduction I have had the opportunity to try Masa Shiroki's products (and meet the man himself) and if you have not yet had the opportunity to do either you must put it on your "to do" list!

Great article Dawn and if I'm every out that way I'd love to stop by. I too associate mead with medieval times. I guess some good things just last and last. Love you. Auntie D.

Aww... thanks so much! This is so much fun to do and keeps my brain going. And it is neat to work with other like minded people, always something to learn!

Leanna --

So all I could find in Northern California was this one Meadery:

http://www.mountainmeadowsmead.com/

They look like they have won some awards and have some interesting products. I haven't checked on a map where that is in relation to where you are but you should try to get your hands on a bottle. We can definitely do some tasting :)

Jamie:

I am thinking it sometimes depends on the product and what each Meadery recommends. I find in my experience that mead should be drank in 1-2 years from bottling. After opening, I would say to enjoy within a week for sure. I am going to double check with Bob and Dana and follow up.

Cheers!
